Helping provide support and dignity to groups in the archdiocese

The Center for Mission also provides mission bridges of faith, relationship and resources right here in our archdiocese to help enhance needs of the Black and American-Indian communities.  The Black and Indian Missions office, which was founded by the U.S. Catholic Bishops, is comprised of three organizations: Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions, Commission for the Catholic Missions and the Catholic Negro-American Mission Board. The purpose is to provide dignity through support, solace and encouragement to Native Americans and Black peoples in the United States. The office also financially supports  the work of the National Black Catholic Congress and the Tekakwitha Conference

Currently, funds are provided twice a year to specific organizations and parishes that have requested aid from the Black and Indian Mission office.  This includes De La Salle High School and the Church of Gichitwaa Kateri in Minneapolis.
