Dedicated to bridging our mission efforts at home and around the world.
The Center for Mission is an official office of the U.S. Pontifical Mission Societies which represents the Congregation for Evangelization in Rome.
History
In 1935, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis welcomed its own missionary organization, known as The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, to administrate and coordinate missionary activities within the Archdiocese and on behalf of missionary activities of the Catholic Church throughout the world. For over 70 years this mission society gathered material and spiritual support for Catholic missions and initiated various activities and projects. As these mission activities broadened in scope and breadth, the office was renamed in 2001 as “The Center for Mission” to clearly reflect today’s activities.
Purpose
The Center for Mission exists to bridge the Archdiocese with the global and local mission of Jesus Christ. We promote and coordinate the global mission outreach of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis cooperating with individuals, parishes and more than 1150 dioceses in 120 countries around the world. We help to foster a universal missionary spirit focused on sharing and cross-cultural growth among the Catholic faithful and coordinate spiritual and material support for mission activities at home and abroad.
