“…it is plain that missionary activity wells up from the Church’s inner nature and spreads aboard her saving Faith.” Ad Gentes, #6, Second Vatican Council Decree

The Center for Mission is charged with promoting and coordinating the global mission outreach of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. There are many types of Catholic mission experiences, all valuable for personal growth and transformation. The Center for Mission tends to emphasize fostering relationships of solidarity by building bridges of faith, culture and resources between the archdiocese and our brothers and sisters worldwide.  They are opportunities to learn, to experience and to share.

“We need a Church capable of walking people’s side…which accompanies then on their journey…”
7/13 Address to Brazilian Bishops

It is this spirit of accompanying our brothers and sisters that forms our mission activity of “solidarity” and “mutuality”  as expressed well by the Passionist Volunteers in Jamaica as “Walking with the crucified of today.” Therefore the Center for Mission focuses on two powerful mission experiences that enhance solidarity through relationship and engagement: partnerships and immersion trips.

If you have discerned an interest in engaging in a short or long-term mission experience, the Center for Mission can offer a bridges to many opportunities globally and nationally through various programs. We can help you, contact Mickey Friesen, email, or call 651.291.4445.

In addition to engaging in mission by taking a trip, the Center for Mission facilitates many annual appeals that involve prayer and financial gifts to our brothers and sisters overseas.  These are also opportunities for animating the importance of a mission spirit in the archdiocese. They include, Mission Coop Plan,  annual appeals, and World Mission Sunday.
